Meet Margaux
Perpetual Dreamer
I was born Peggy "Margaux" Kalvelage in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but moved to Atlanta in 1960, where I call home to this day. After graduating from Emory University, I opened my own business in the medical field for 38 years. In 2017 I retired and began to really pursue my creative desires. I painted for several years and found such joy whenever I met with the canvas and the freedom of expression it allowed. I've always had a passion for jewelry and was curious to know how something so beautiful could be created from pieces of precious metals and loose gemstones, thus starting my love of metal working. I find the whole process of jewelry making so fascinating- from the way the metal burns at the edges, to hammering and folding the metal, creating water castings of gold and silver to add intricacies to my work, the gentle placement of beautiful and delicate gemstones, to the final piece of a beautiful creation proudly worn by a collector. I find peace in the laborious process from start to finish. Watching an idea transform into a wax carving, and having that carving be replaced by pieces of gold and silver, and witnessing the evolution of a dream before my eyes. I have been very fortunate to have studied with several talented teachers and have collected gemstones for many years, knowing I would someday be able to set these cherished treasures into the pieces of art I create. I am inspired by natural surroundings and have been an avid gardener for years. I take pride in making my environment warm, beautiful, and welcoming, and imparting that warmth into my work. If one of my pieces calls to you, I know it will bring you much joy for years to come!
